womanwithclipboardThis year QKL Ltd is working with 158 new apprentices. Due to the end of Train to Gain funding; QKL have managed to find alternative apprenticeship funding  to provide training for employers providing services in health and Social Care.

The apprenticeships are a bundle of qualifications that are all relevant to your sector and job role. For staff, this is an amazing opportunity to gain qualifications that you may have missed out on whilst at school or in college. Alternatively; any qualifications gained that are within the apprenticeship framework, will not have to be retaken if they have been recently achieved (within the past 5 years). For employers this new set of qualifications can be matched accurately to the job roles of all your staff.

Congratulations Adina!!!

adina barnettAdina joined QKL Ltd in November 2009 after being unemployed for 18 months. Adina came to QKL with no experience in office and administrative work. She gained her Level 3 Advice and Guidance NVQ, and is now a qualified Assessor helping to qualify learners in Advice and Guidance and Customer Service.

Adina has progressed through the ranks, from the office junior administrator, to our new sales and marketing manager.

Awareness of Dementia Award level 3

The report by the Health Service Ombudsman (February 2011) shows how the NHS is failing to provide basic care, dignity and respect to older people. The ombudsman, who deals with serious complaints against the NHS, said the patients - all aged over 65 - suffered unnecessary pain, neglect and distress.

The ten  case studies cited make depressing reading – many involve our most vulnerable older people who because of their dementia have been unable to speak up for themselves.

PRINCE2: Kate Lord, Certified Practitioner

Kate Lord, qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner
Kate Lord, managing Director of QKL has recently completed her PRINCE2 qualification and is now a certified PRINCE2 practitioner! PRINCE2 is the standard project management framework utilised by all major industries within the UK. It offers a comprehensive methodology for project management best practice which is transferable across a wide range of industries.

Kate was thrilled with her results – 81% on the Foundation exam and 79% on the Practitioner. Kate is now looking into becoming a PRINCE2 trainer so that she can use her skills as a trainer to offer this course as part of QKL’s management suite of qualifications.
