Every home must have one!
The government is now asking for every residential home in the country to have someone on the team who can show that they are a ‘Dementia expert’.
What better way to do this than by enrolling your team onto a qualification course tailored to meet this need?

City & Guilds and Age Concern have worked together and produced two new vocational qualifications in promoting the mental health and well-being of older people. These qualifications are aimed at all individuals involved in improving and maintaining the mental well-being of older people, whether they are based in health services, housing, social care, advice and employment, education, sport and leisure, or the criminal justice system, in the voluntary, public or private sectors.
These qualifications are relevant to people who are new to their role as well as those who already have experience of working with older people. The aim is to build on any previous work and life experiences.
After an intensive one day training course each learner will be given a piece of work to complete and have this verified by a qualified manager in their own workplace. This evidence will be matched to a National set of Standards by a fully qualified NVQ assessor. If the learner has demonstrated their competence convincingly in supporting people with dementia in their workplace they will receive a City and Guilds qualification worth 4 Credits on the new Qualification, Credit Framework (QCF)
